Reading response to Woman Warrior

The book i am giving my readers response is on the Woman Warrior. The author of the Woman Warrior is Maxine Hong Kingston. This was a quick read for me. Although, the beginning of the story was hard to follow but then as the story goes on it starts to make more sense. This book was a little disturbing at times. Actually all the books we read this semester have been disturbing. None of the books have been a nice peaceful story. In Woman Warrior whenever they were eating the monkey and picking off of it that made me sick. Also, whenever the one kid followed the quiet girl into the bathroom and started pulling her hair and yelling at her to talk. Then finally the quiet girls sister shows up. This book reminds me of the Holocaust where they were always hiding away form everyone else. Then if someone found them they would all be killed. Also all the Chinese Americans called everyone that wasn't Chinese Americans ghosts. It also taught me what it is like to be a Chinese American in the early 1900's. The Last three books all have something in common they all show what it's like to be a different color of skin. My favorite chapter in the book was the fourth chapter called at the western palace. When they were talking about Brave and Moon Orchid. How Moon Orchid wanted to see her old husband and went on a trip to see him. Then when they arrived he didn't want anything to do with her. This book was worth reading because it taught me more about the Chinese American culture.
