I think the American Dream is almost the same for everyone. Whenever we are little we dream that we will grow up and live the life of luxury. Only a few of us end up living that lifestyle. We can even dream while we are sleeping about living the life of luxury with all the nice things.
The first part to my American Dream is freedom. Freedom is being able to express yourself however you wish to. Citizens should be able to dress how they want and talk how they want without being questioned. There are people from other countries that wish they lived in America. They have to suffer everyday to live.
The second part to my American dream is a good job and a steady source of income. If you don't have a job you don't make any money. If you don't have money then you won't make it in society. Everyone wants money but you have to work for it. With the economy so bad now it's hard to find a job. There are tons of people who are getting fired and laid off. If you have a job your lucky because their are people that wish they did.
The third part to my American dream is family. If you don't have family then you have no one to turn to for help. If you are in trouble you can count on your family for help. Without family then you have no love and support.
Whenever we were little we made goals for ourselves to achieve. We didn't always achieve those goals but it thought us a lesson and will help us succeed in our lives.

I agree with the different parts of "The American Dream." However, I do not think that this dream is the same for everyone. Depending on the background someone comes from depends on the dream they have. For instance, if someone came from a very wealthy family, then they probably are not going to dream of a life of luxury because they already have that.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your definition those three things can mean many things to many people. For example if someone said they desire freedom that could mean to someone the ability to wear what they want and to others it could mean staying out past curfew. The American dream is going to be different for each individual and it should be that way because USA is the melting pot of the world! =)
ReplyDeleteyour american dream sounds similar to all the family, job, money and happyness seems to be in everyones american dream. I agree with it as someone american dream as it is mine as well. I agrre with you as well as you said you have to work for money. There are so many people that think they can get by without working for what they want. It would be a great american dream to have things handed to us for free although then people wouldnt have the quality of working for the american dollar.
