This blog is on the question what does it mean to be an American in the 21st century and do all American have access to the American Dream? In my mind being an American in the 21st Century is an honor. Everyone all over the world knows the perks of being an American. When I went to Canada they would ask me how cool it was being an American. Immigrant come from other countries to America so they can have freedom. In some parts of the world they have nothing and would do anything to have what we have in American. I've seen movies and pictures and it's sad to see all the pain people go through. They have no home and no food. the people live on the streets and eat whatever they find. If they could move away and find a way to live they would do it. Living in this century instead of living in the early nineteen hundreds is amazing. There have been a lot of new inventions in this generation that weren't around back then. Some of the new inventions have been the computer and the cell phone. If some people today didn't have those items they would go crazy. If scientist went back through all the new discoveries over the past century there have been a ton. In the next century their will be even more new inventions. For instance a huge monitoring system that talks and controls your hole house.
All Americans have equal access the American dream. It doesn't mater about their gender or their race anyone can do anything they want. When we were little we each had our own dream and tried to accomplish it. If a woman wants to be the president she can and if a man wants to be a fashion designer he can. American can do whatever they want when they want. In the Slave era their were conditions and no questions asked either the slaves did what they were told or they were killed. Now their are no rules and hopefully form now on everyone will not be forced to do something they don't want to do. Everyone can live their American Dream.

Reading response to Woman Warrior
The book i am giving my readers response is on the Woman Warrior. The author of the Woman Warrior is Maxine Hong Kingston. This was a quick read for me. Although, the beginning of the story was hard to follow but then as the story goes on it starts to make more sense. This book was a little disturbing at times. Actually all the books we read this semester have been disturbing. None of the books have been a nice peaceful story. In Woman Warrior whenever they were eating the monkey and picking off of it that made me sick. Also, whenever the one kid followed the quiet girl into the bathroom and started pulling her hair and yelling at her to talk. Then finally the quiet girls sister shows up. This book reminds me of the Holocaust where they were always hiding away form everyone else. Then if someone found them they would all be killed. Also all the Chinese Americans called everyone that wasn't Chinese Americans ghosts. It also taught me what it is like to be a Chinese American in the early 1900's. The Last three books all have something in common they all show what it's like to be a different color of skin. My favorite chapter in the book was the fourth chapter called at the western palace. When they were talking about Brave and Moon Orchid. How Moon Orchid wanted to see her old husband and went on a trip to see him. Then when they arrived he didn't want anything to do with her. This book was worth reading because it taught me more about the Chinese American culture.

Beloved reader response
This Blog is about the book Beloved. I thought this book was an important piece of literature history. This story had allot of mixed emotions in it. As i was reading this book it was hard to follow what was going on. I could not tell if the things she said were happening or not. I had to go back and skim through the chapters i read. The story took place in Cincinnati Ohio during the slave era. As i was reading the story i could tell this story was trying to show a powerful message to the readers. I knew this because of how much emotion they used. Whenever sethe was in the tool shed and she killed her little kid that meant the slavery era was that horrible that she didn't want to make another human being go through that kind of misery. Also how the white people treated the slaves really made me mad. Reading this book made me feel like i was living in the slave era. I rented the film it helped me understand some of the things that were going on in the book. Some of the parts in the movie i had to skip through because they were way to disturbing and violent too watch. If Hollywood didn't make this book into a movie then it wouldn't have made as much sense. I felt the message this book was trying to send was if you do something you can never take it back. We all make mistakes and wish we never made them but we can't take them back. People can ask for forgiveness if they are truly sorry. It seemed that sethe felt she was being haunted for what she did to her baby and other things that happened in her life. In the end I thought this book was worth reading.

Who is the Indian Killer
This blog is on who i think the Indian Killer is. The Indian killer kept me on my toes the entire story. After reading each chapter it left me in suspense. If their wasn't a mystery to this book then it wouldn't have been as good. When i was reading through the story i always thought the killer was john. The reason why i thought it was him is he had some type of mental illness. He had schizophrenia he was hearing a voice in his telling him to kill people. The voice he heard could have been father Duncan. Also how John cut most of the people out of his life. He forgot about his parents and friends. Whenever his parents tried to contact him he wouldn't answer his phone. Whenever they tried to go to his house he was never home. He was always the outcast looking for a place to fit in. John always wondered what it would be like if he grew up on the reservation. If he would have been raised by Indian parents and learned the ways of a tribe then he might have been better off. Another character in the story i thought it might be was professor Mather. I was thinking he was tired of hearing students criticize his teaching skills. He could have been the one getting revenge on the critics. Whenever i was finishing the last chapter i was very disappointed. I was disappointed because the author never said who the Indian killer was. Does that mean the reader chooses who the killer is. If the author would have said who the killer was at the end the ending would have been better.

discrimination
I live in a small town so i have not seen a whole lot of discrimination. I was working at my job at the grocery store i was putting out some more milk for the store cooler. When i got to the cooler there was this African American lady trying to decide what to buy so i set the milk down and walked down the lane and i was waiting till she left and came back down to where she was standing and i put the milk in the cooler. Later to find out by the cashier she was complaing to/ the other workers that i was racist because i was watching her to make sure she didn't steal anything. She said it was because she was African American that i was watching her. Her family is the one of a few in the town there is mostly White people. She thinks everyone racist towards her. Here is another incident i have witnessed. There was another time at a baseball game where this umpire was calling the game unfair. One team was mostly white teenagers and the other team was mostly African American teenagers. When the team with mostly white kids were up to bat the strike zone would be larger and the close plays at first would be favored tor wards them. Whenever the team with mostly African Americans was up to bat the strike zone would be smaller and the plays at first would be favor the other team. Whenever one of the African American players was up to bat he got called out on strikes and the coach came out to argue the call and the umpire threw him out of the game after five seconds. I thought that was wrong how one team was treated different than the other just because the color of their skin. I think everyone should be treated the same it doesn't matter about skin color. I see this still happening today all the time with people. this reminds me of a movie I've seen Remember the Titans when ever they go into that resturant for diner and the owner refuses to serve the two football players just because the color of one of the players skin. If teachers would educate the new up and coming kids that would make a difference.

Reading Response for Indian Killer
I am doing my reading response on the book Indian Killer by Sherman Alexie. I enjoyed the book the Indian Killer. It was exciting all the way throughout the book. Sometimes it was getting so good i didn't want to put the book down. When I was looking at the book i was thinking this is going to take forever to read. on the other hand, it was a really long book but it was a fast read. I liked how the author wrote the book. How they jumped from character to character in each of the chapters. My favorite/ chapter was the first chapter whenever they were writing whatever came to their mind. Sometimes I thought this book was a little too violent at times. Sometimes i was thinking is the Indian Killer really doing this to those citizens. Also, whenever i was reading the book i could see it happening in my head. The book was a little too predigest and racist at times. It was like living back then when every body wasn't treated equal. Back in that time if another race died instead of white it didn't matter. From the start of the book i guessed/ who the Indian killer was and i had it right all along. I was disappointed because John Smith was my favorite character in the story. In the Story it mentioned that John Smith had Schizophrenia. I've seen movies and learned about Schizophrenia in phycology class. John Smith was hearing voice in his head telling him to hurt people and he couldn't tune them out. Like the movie we watched with Will Ferrell. Were the doctor thought he had Schizophrenia because he was hearing voice's in his head.I also like how they started off the book where John was born and it continued through his life. I also liked the story sometimes went back in time and then it went back to the present.I didn't like the ending to this book the reason i didn't like the ending is when John killed himself. It would have liked it better if John Smith had lived but got help with his illness. What makes a book good is after each chapter the reader is guessing what is going to happen next. This was one of the best books I have ever read.

reading response
This is my response to the book, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas A Salvage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream"
I thought the book was okay. It started off slow but then it started to get exiting as it went along. I thought it was a little hard to follow sometimes. It was hard to tell if he was dreaming or if it actually was going on. It seemed this was a true story and he was telling it over again the way it happened. The language they used sometimes in the book was a little to much. My favorite part in the story was when they were on their way to Las Vegas and they picked up the hitchhiker. They could of made the story better if they got caught by the cops and they were in a high speed chase. Then they could of got taken to jail and escaped or something that would have made it more exciting. Overall it was a pretty good book to read.
